Upcoming new DC movies
1. Justice League
Justice League is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is intended to be the fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, from a story by Snyder and Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, CiarĂ¡n Hinds, Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J. K. Simmons. In Justice League, Batman and Wonder Woman assemble a team consisting of Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to face the catastrophic threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons.
The film was announced in October 2014 with Snyder on board to direct and Terrio attached to write the script. Principal photography commenced in April 2016 and ended in October 2016. Snyder left the project in May 2017, following the death of his daughter, with Joss Whedon supervising post-production, as well as working on additional scenes and reshoots. Justice League is scheduled to be released on November 17, 2017, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX
2. The Flash
Ezra Miller's speedster was supposed to star in his own solo movie in 2018, but the film has seen two directors come and go and has essentially gone back to the drawing board, with writer Joby Harold brought on in January to do a rewrite. Rick Famuyiwa and Seth Grahame-Smith, who were both at one time attached to direct, also wrote drafts of the script. The film is also set to star Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) and Billy Crudup (father to the Fastest Man Alive).
3. Aquaman
Aquaman is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is intended to be the sixth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film will be directed by James Wan, with a screenplay by Will Beall, from a story by Wan and Geoff Johns, and stars Jason Momoa, Willem Dafoe, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, and Nicole Kidman.
Principal photography began in May 2017 on the Gold Coast, Australia. The film is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX on December 21, 2018 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
4. Ben Affleck's Batman
Ben Affleck is still set to star, but in January, the actor announced he would no longer be directing the film, with insiders saying Affleck and Warner Bros. execs had been unhappy with the script for weeks. No release date had been set for the Batman movie, tentatively titled The Batman, but speculation had been that it'd be some time in 2018. (That will not be the case, now.) The film, which is also set to star Joe Manganiello as the villain Deathstroke, has been seen as a key part of the DCEU strategy, with Warner Bros. prioritizing it over a Justice League sequel. In February, Matt Reeves was tapped to direct.
5. Gotham City Sirens
6. Green Lantern corps
DC heroes John Stewart and Hal Jordan will team up for Green Lantern Corps, which has no release, but was previously announced for 2020 back during Warner Bros.' big 2014 slate announcement. In January, news broke that David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes would be handling scripting duties. No stars or director are attached.
7. Shazam/ Black Adam
These to projects started life as a single film that would see Dwayne Johnson play Shazam arch nemesis Black Adam. But Johnson, who has been attached to the role since around 2008, grew in starpower and the films were eventually separated to give room for The Rock to headline his own movie. No writer or filmmaker is attached to the Black Adam movie, while Shazam has a script being worked by Henry Gayden, according to one source.
8. Cyborg
The film that would star Justice League's Ray Fisher was announced back in 2014 with a 2020 target date. No director is attached and the film has no official release date.
9. Justice League 2
Zack Snyder plans to continue playing in the DCEU sandbox, though it won't be for the 2019 date that was announced back in 2014. Justice League 2 has been pushed back to give priority to Affleck's Batman, and Snyder will take the time in between Justice League installments to direct the thriller The Last Photograph.
